{"id":1538,"date":"2018-04-23T15:46:12","date_gmt":"2018-04-23T13:46:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arbios.org\/?p=1538\/"},"modified":"2018-04-23T15:56:26","modified_gmt":"2018-04-23T13:56:26","slug":"carbios-realise-avancee-majeure-loptimisation-de-procede-de-biorecyclage-plastiques-pet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arbios.org\/en\/carbios-realise-avancee-majeure-loptimisation-de-procede-de-biorecyclage-plastiques-pet\/","title":{"rendered":"CARBIOS achieves a major milestone in the optimization of its biorecycling process of PET based plastics"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"TitreParaph Bleu\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"TitreParaph Bleu\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">CARBIOS, pioneer company in the field of bioplasturgy, announces a major milestone in the optimization of its biorecycling process of post-consumer PET plastic bottles, making it possible to strengthen its economic competitiveness and accelerate its scaling up towards the industrial demonstration stage.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"accordion ui-accordion ui-widget ui-helper-reset\">\n<div id=\"ui-accordion-2-header-0\" class=\"EnSavoirPlusActu ui-accordion-header ui-helper-reset ui-state-default ui-accordion-icons ui-accordion-header-active ui-state-active ui-corner-top\" tabindex=\"0\">\n<p class=\"81\">\n<p class=\"81\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Previously, CARBIOS announced that it had discovered a particularly well-suited enzyme to degrade PET plastics into their original monomers: PTA (terephthalic acid) and MEG (mono ethylene glycol).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ui-accordion-2-panel-0\" class=\"FondGris ui-accordion-content ui-helper-reset ui-widget-content ui-corner-bottom ui-accordion-content-active\">\n<div class=\"Contenu\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Following these results, work has been undertaken to optimize the enzyme used in CARBIOS\u2019 biorecycling process, with the support of the teams from Toulouse White Biotechnology (TWB), and in particular the Engineering Laboratory of Biological Systems and Processes (LISBP). A molecular modelling<\/span> study has been carried out to analyze the relations between the 3D structure of the enzyme and its efficiency. This has made it possible to set targets enabling to improve performance and achieve a conversion rate that only CARBIOS can claim today. Thus, the time of hydrolysis has been divided by three, 97% conversion being obtained after 24 hours of reaction.
